A Pupper Series – First Stop: Oldsmar Trail

One thing I absolutely love about living in Tampa is how dog friendly this place is. The opportunities are endless when it comes to Places to Go or Things to Do with your furry best friend. In this series, Hudson & I are going to break down some of his favorite places to hang in this vibrant city.

Hudson & the Fallen Tree

This week’s highlight is the Oldsmar Trail in Oldsmar, Florida. Located on the border of Oldsmar and Palm Harbor, this trail is easy to get to and has a lot to offer. The entire trek is about 5.5 miles. Along the way there are baseball fields, frisbee golf (yes, apparently that’s a thing here), beautiful scenery, parks and more.
David & I enjoy taking Hudson for runs or long walks, especially when during the cooler months. Like so many dogs, Hudson is high energy and extremely playful. We are always looking for additional ways to chill this little dude out and running is perfect for that.

Ending the day with a sunset run

The trail is lined with dog waste bags and trash cans, super convenient for when someone decides to drop 3 deuces in 20 minutes. How can so much crap come out of such a small creature?

Anyway, the views are stunning in the area. Wildlife roam free and the sunsets here are a serene way to end the day. Whenever we head this way, Hudson is overjoyed because he knows we’re headed toward adventure.

As you make your way along the trail, you’ll stumble across workout stations and various sport fields. There’s even a decent sized dog park and picnic tables for your pup’s next birthday banger. I honestly love how clean it is, you can tell the town really cares about what it offers to residents. If you make it towards the end of the trail, you’ll reach Sheffield Park which has panoramic water views aka perfect for sunsets. I definitely plan on doing a photoshoot there for Hudson – he bougie like that. (see evidence below)

The only drawback is that since it’s hotter than hell 85% of the year, I wish the trail offered more shaded areas. When it’s the peak summer months, the asphalt is scorching and no bueno for little pupper paws. Other than that minor gripe – it’s freakin great!

There’s a small parking lot at the beginning on the trail and since it’s a public park – it’s free, my guy!

Marrs’ tip: for the parking lot put in Oldsmar Trail & Curlew Road; it’ll lead you straight to it.

So, if you’re looking for something that offers stunning views, peace & serenity while also being active; we highly recommend you check it out.

Gigglewaters aka Your New Favorite Hang Out

Gigglewater used to be slang for an alcoholic beverage during the Prohibition Era and if you’re a Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts aficionado, then you may recall Gigglewater also being the drink Jacob Kowalski orders in The Blind Pig causing him to laugh uncontrollably.

Despite the venue is located in the heart of Downtown Safety Harbor, it’s surprisingly tucked away. When you enter through the double doors, you feel taken back to the prohibition era. The decor is nostalgic, elaborate, and fun featuring celebrities adorned with tattoos. (Check out Princess Diana below) The ambiance is intoxicating and electrifying! This is what Gigglewaters Social Club & Screening Room is all about! I loved every detail in the establishment.

Squad Goals AF

Some friends joined me on Saturday to test out the food & drinks and we were truly blown away! The menu was extensive…I was surprisingly overwhelmed by the options. Which I loved because it means I’ll always have something new to try with each visit. To start off, I ordered the Bathtub Gin, which may just be my favorite drink of all time. Starring Gin and featuring tonic, cucumber and lime, the drink was so refreshing and started my giggle-fest.

My fiancé ordered the Gojira hot dog which is wrapped in BACON. Now you know everything tastes better with bacon, amirite? It was topped with sautéed onions and pineapples. The flavors worked so well together. I may have stolen several bites, lol. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Salad, which was HUGE. The greens were mega fresh, the chicken was perfectly fried and not overly greasy. The only downside to this salad was the bowl not being big enough to mix the ingredients….and I mean it’s not really an issue.

One thing I loved is that there is a small private theater located in the back of the establishment. They play all types of flicks from musicals like Grease to new movies like Captain Marvel & Aquaman. I will certainly come back for one of their sing-a-long nights!

If you are looking for a cool place to impress a date or a new local spot to hang with your crew, then look no further than Gigglewaters!
